AutoDEPOMOD version 3

AutoDEPOMOD version 3 is different to version 2 in the following ways:

- the version accepts spatially varying velocity grids and single point current velocity data (as in version 2)
- larger grids may be used than the limit of 1km by 1km in version 2
- the critical threshold for erosion is set at the equivalent of 15 cm/s
- the height of the near-bed layer above the bed used in the resusension equation is not fixed at 1.8 m
- no limit on particle position accuracy
- the following files are different in version 3 and should be in the locations as specified below:

Version 3 filename Date Version Folder
autoDepomod_srf8.exe 02/12/09 3.0.0 C:\SEPA Consent
displaymaps.dll 23/04/08 1.5.0.0 C:\SEPA Consent
sitename-FFMTv3.0.xls 30/11/09 Compatible with ADv3 C:\SEPA Consent\DATA\sitename
Gridgen16.exe 05/01/10 3.3.2 C:\SEPA Consent\depomod
Part16.exe 05/01/10 3.3.2 C:\SEPA Consent\depomod
Resus16.exe 14/01/10 3.3.3 C:\SEPA Consent\depomod
Velgrid4.exe05/01/104.1.0C:\Velgrid

To use AutoDEPOMOD version 3, undertake the following:

1. Before commencing, make sure a back up copy of your whole SEPA Consent directory is up to date.
2. Also make a back up copy of version 2 autoDepomod_srf8.exe and displaymaps.dll.
3. Copy the files above into their correct folders.
4. Run AutoDEPOMOD and Create New Project. Exit the Excel spreadsheet.
5. In AutoDEPOMOD under  Site Defaults>Programs, change the Gridgen program to Gridgen16.exe by clicking the white box next to Gridgen.
6. Change ParTrack and Resus executables in the same manner.
7. Copy the sitename-FFMTv3.0.xls (30/11/09) to the correct location. To convert the FFMT file from version 2 to a file compatible with version 3, see compatibility of FFMT file.
8. Then set up the site as usual - this is the same as for version 2. Note - version 3 currently requires surface, mid and near bed current data files to be loaded in the same manner as for version 2, even if velocity grids are in use. These data files are ignored when the velocity grids are in use, and may be dummy files. However, it is prefereable to load in single point modelled or observed current velocity data for comparison with velocity grids.
9. Continue with steps 2 -5 in Getting started.
10. Check the file with extension .INR in location C:\SEPA Consent\DATA\sitename\depomod\resus. this file gives details of all the information used in the run, including which velocity grids are in use and resuspension parameters.
